The subject line is misleading.

There has been NO "heated exchanges on the cost of beingBlack": there
has been no exchange of _any_ kind on the cost of being black. There is
complete agreement on that.

There has been and will continue to be sharp disagreements over the
analysis of the _causes_ of that cost and of the strategy and tactics of
combatting that condition.

As long as the discvussion is cast in the terms of this subject line
there can be no useful discussion.
