Actually, I sat in in front of the White House in 1965 under
the leadership of SNCC. The rise of Black Nationalism was a
fact already then. Luckily for me, I was a member of the
Young Socialist Alliance which defended Black Nationalism
and supported Malcolm X. He had begun to move beyond that,
but never was against it. He simply stopped using that term
to characterize his political position.

I had been to young, or too politically-inexperienced for 
the Woolworth struggle, but Bonnie Weinstein could help as
she probably did participate.

The move toward Black leadership of the Black struggle was
a positive thing. Who, today, would question the conception
of Black leadership of the Black struggle?

Of course, the mere fact of my participation on various
struggle long ago is no guarantee that anything I say for
today is ipso facto valid.
