[Marxism] the historical jewish left

any book / article recommendation in relation to the history of the jewish left in the twentieth century, especially in respect of the new deal era in the US, and the 1920s and anti-fascist activism in the UK, and in respect of communities and arts, particularly theatre?
   
  there seem to be a number of studies of the jewish community in hollywood, etc, but can't locate anything that tallks specifically about jewish groupings and left politics / affiliations
