[Marxism] Tilting at windmills, or trying to fly... leaving the Democratic Party and building a third party

Trying to build a third party to the left of the
imperialist Democratic Party in the United States may
be a Quixotic enterprise, but it may not be...

Building a third party to the left of the Whigs was a
Quixotic enterprise that happened and resulted in a
civil war.

I think there is a better analogy than Don Quixote
tilting at windmills, it's flying a kite.

You need to build a really lightweight kite with a big
surface area compared to its weight, and a long,
strong, light tail to give it stability.....

Then you need to wait until the wind is strong and
steady...and fly!

The wind behind that could carry the kite aloft is
beginning to blow. It is the anger that is growing
against the war in Iraq and against the callous
corruption of the government both in Iraq and most
especially within the USA as evidenced by New Orleans
in the aftermath of Katrina. It is a wind that is also
being fueled by the fear and trepidation among new
home owners that they will lose their homes... and by
the long simmering rage of black people who are in
prison, who were in prison, whose brothers and sisters
are in prison....It is a wind out of the south, from
below the border...

Will it reach hurricane force?

Will it become strong enough to lift a third party?

We don't know. But the only way we can be ready for
the wind, is if we build and launch the kite now.

Having no better built kite than the Green Party, we
should all set about trying to fly it as high as it
will go.
