economic criteria (monopolies with nationalization being simply the creation
of new monopoly capital, the merger of banking and industrial capital
tending to be reduced to the control of banks and industry by the same body,
the state or state-sponsored capitalists), no argument can be made against
Venezuela, Brazil, Argentina, Chile, Uruguay, Peru, Mexico, Colombia being
imperialist states. That is, the vast majority of the territory and
population of Latin America. Definitely not the world Lenin talked about but
a brand new imperialist world or a new type.
Paula often refers to "imperialist" Russia. But she completely fails to
take note of imperialist Ukraine, ByeloRussia, Kazakhstan, Uzbekhistan,
Azerbaijan, Armenia, and probably others whose economic structure is not
qualitatively different. In fact, on a world scale, in her truly ersatz
extension of Lenin
This is achieved by leaving aside Lenin's historical framework for the
rise of imperialism which bears so little resemblance to the historical
situation today.
This includes ignoring the formation of semicolonial and formerly
semicolonial structures under the pressure of a popular revolt against
imperialist domination,
