Subject: Why labor is unpleasant?
Many years ago the group of performing artists
travaling through cities of the Soviet Union was
invited by an old man, the RETIRED WORKER, to come and
visit HIS plant. That is how he said:"would you come,
please, with me tomorrow morning to visit MY plant?".
At the entrance to the plant, guards cheared an old
man up, asking about his health and his family. Then,
inside the plant, at the place where he was working
for many years, when workers recognized him, they
shouted :"look he is there!" and one by one ran to hug
him.
The "productivity", possibly, suffered for awhile, for
the excitment about the meeting with their RETAIREE
channeled the workers' attention. It was the huge
metallurgy plant in the ordinary provincial Russian
city of Brynsk.
An old man. the retired from this plant worker, called
it MY plant.
It had nothing to do with the "shareholdings" or
owning of any part of it. He was just the ordinary
worker, a part of the friendly collective of workers.
On the way back, one could see an old man's face
shining with the pride: it was his way to say "thank
you" to the group of performing artists, visiting his
town and HIS plant.
It appeared that his life time labor left in this old
man, the retired worker but pleasant memories of the
work done for good cause.
That was THEN... Now, in Russia, there is nothing of
this sort and the labor which was turned into the
means for the survival, swiftly became antagonistic
to the owners of plants, as owners of plants has
turned into its foe.
There are still many witnesses alive in Russia who
cries for the loss of worker's honor.
Still there is a hope... Though the capitalism takes
its grip and the labor swiftly tirns into the class
struggle for survival. No worker anymore calls his
working place "plesant", no worker can be proudly
invite quests into HIS plant.
