[Marxism] Another break from Democrats, another Green candidacy

I may have conveyed the wrong impression to my friend and comrade Fred
Feldman. While I think it is safe to say that Nader supporters are
worried about a repeat of 2004, this time with a stacked deck for
McKinney, there is also a lot of good will on both sides. So rumors
are just rumors at this point.

It is also too soon, I think, to call the rupture in the Green Party a
state of permanent factionalism. For one thing, the issue that divided
the two sides (whether the DP should win in 2004) is not operable
since a) the DP is pretty much a shoo-in in 2008; and b) GP members
are no different than Sheehan supporters and others who are so fed up
and disgusted with the DP that they want to punish them hard in the
polls.

I agree with Fred that a meeting and ongoing contact between the two
of them would be wonderful and should be encouraged. Several Greens
who know both McKinney and Nader have been pressing for them to talk
with each other. A petition with 100 names or so was delivered to each
of them asking that they consider the other as a running mate if they
get the presidential nomination.
