[Marxism] Britains Muslim communities and Respect

I find Joaquin's and Mike's reply most interesting. When I was in London 
20 years go or more, I remember that people from India, Pakistan or the 
West Indies identified themselves as "Black" and sometimes as "Asian". 
Now for those of the Muslim faith, it seems that identification has 
taken over. I really know so little about this from afar that I can't 
comment on this more than that, but perhaps others can.

I can say that that the racism experienced by Black West Indians (many 
West Indians migrants to the UK are also Asian, I noticed) was different 
from that experienced in the US. It *seemed* the same, but seemed tied 
up with anti-immigrant hatred that was made identifiable by skin color. 
It doesn't/didn't seem a question of oppression of a nationality, per 
se, like it most definitely is in the US.
