That is, they are all _bourgeois democracies_. Since they are on the
fringes of the "civilized" world, their failings are simply under
permanent scrutiny by the "civilized" media, and what looks
"normalcy" in the US looks as either an outrage or a victory of
revolutionary forces (it depends on the point of view) elsewhere.
But in the end that is all that there is to it.
I have discovered that Walter and Louis form a dialectical pair. Take
Walter's positions, and Louis's comments, and you will find that
while clubbing each other on the head Walter and Louis give us more
than a few deep insights on the reality around us.
Perhaps this is what is meant by "in contradiction lies hope".
Let us just be careful that no actual clubbing takes place.
