Columbine was not about drug sales. Virginia tech was not
about drug sales. The culture of violence which pervades
the United States, whether by police dropping bombs on a
residential city as in the MOVE massacre, or Attica, or 
a thousand and one other ways the government guarantees 
its right to a monopoly of socially-sanctioned violence, 
is really the basic source of violence in this culture
and in this society. 

Hollywood is not "responsible" for gun violence, but it
contributes ideologically to a culture justifying it and
it's obvious that culture matters and does play its role.
As does racism, sexism and homophobia, all of which are
contributors to the notion that some human beings have
less rights, including the right to live, than others.
Most social problems don't have violent solutions as
will be demonstrated in Pakistan in very short order.
