I think rebuttals to the likes of Paul (not Peter) Collier are important
because the article was published in the New York Times. Many more people
read the NYT than they read Counterpunch or Z Magazine, and so, if allowed
to go unchallenged there, what gets written there influences a huge swathe
of readers. This is why it is important to write letters to the editor with
rejoinders/rebuttals whenever something like this appears in the NYT and
like newspapers.
