"ANSWER had been circulating its proposal for a unified, mass
demonstration ON A DATE TO BE DECIDED BY ALL CONCERNED JOINTLY since May.
Only AFTER UfPJ voted at its convention not to support that proposal and
join in such an action, and announce their own regional actions for Oct. 27,
did ANSWER, together with other organizations including Code Pink, Gold Star
Families for Peace, Latino Movement USA and the National Lawyers Guild,
announce a march on the White House for Sept. 15 "
OK, show me the minutes of the meeting, or even a verbal description, of the
meeting, where these groups decided on Sept. 15. You can't. Because
it didn't happen. There was no open-to-all conference, not even
an invite-only meeting of these groups. You just called them for
an endorsement.
And as for the Palestine workshop, obviously it would have been
better if UFPJ had approved these measures in the plenary. My
point was that we made progress by getting them approved at a
workshop led by UFPJ's central leaders of this work. At the
next conference we can take the next step.
Not at an ANSWER conference though.
Prove me wrong. I'll be attending your conference in July. Let's
see just how democratic it is.
