We're still in need of an alternative newspaper here
in Los Angeles. Today a few others have attempted to
pick up the slack where the L.A. Weekly once served.
Art Kunkin is publishing the Free Press again and
we have something called CITY BEAT and another whose
name escapes me. The monthly calender CHANGE-LINKS
fills a small niche, but the L.A. WEEKLY remains the
behemoth of supposed "alternative" media here, and it
is truly dreadful. There are other free throwaway
papers from THE WAVE, WATTS TIMES. The L.A. SENTINEL,
like WATTS TIMES is aimed at the Black community

A friend recently handed me a hard copy of an article
by Marc Cooper on Cuba, written in 1984. It's been on
my mind to scan it and share it. Cooper, always the
anarchistic type, wasn't that back twenty-three years
ago. Cooper does not allow me to post on his blog,
while denouncing Cuba's "lack of freedom" hysterically.
He also played a dreadful role in the attempts by some
to wreck Pacifica Radio.
