People got the reputation of being "Demogreens" because they actively supported Cobb in 2004. The term means different things to different people in different places, so I've pretty much discarded its use.
Even in terms of 2004, I'm fairly convinced that much of Cobb's active support for the nomination didn't come from people wanting to tail Kerry and the Democrats, but from people angry that Nader hadn't and wouldn't build the Green Party. In short, it was a sectarian SLP-like response among many of the state and local Green officers.
Which takes us back to the point that any mass third party is going to develop these responses. The political environment creates niches that these attitudes evolve into. This is why it amuses me somewhat when people have fits about the Greens and think they'll get something better by starting from scratch.
Solidarity!
