My question is, what is the meaning of that
cartoon representing Avakian pulling an icepick from Trotsky's head?

As others have posted on this issue, I will simply note what I believe to be
the origins of that cartoon. I first saw it in a publication issued
immediately after the split in the RCP by the Revolutionary Workers Headquarters
(RWHq), the name chosen by the minority who left the party. In that same
publication, I seem to recall there was another cartoon that used a line from a
Randy Newman song, "Short People": "This short person got no reason to live,"
referring to Bob Avakian's rather diminutive physical stature. My memory could
be faulty; the publication I refer to was issued 30 years ago and I haven't
seen it for that same length of time.

Peace,
M.
