I am amazed at people like Paula and Greg who can
write things like "I have a really hard time believing
that people who voted for Chavez consistently in the
past could actually believe that their homes and
children would be confiscated from them by the state
if they voted si in this referendum." In my opinion,
that's a canard which seriously underestimates
people's innate ability for critical reflection."

The people of the United States elected George Bush,
the second time he did not even have to steal the
election.

The Catholic Church in Venezuela - and throughout
every country in Latin America - mounted a big
campaign of slander. Believe your priest or believe in
Chaves. if you believe the priest, you believe Chaves
plans to steal your kids.

Does this sway anyone's vote. Definitely. More people
go to church now than did in 1970.

The Protestant churches in Venezuela carried out their
own campaigns to defeat the referendum.

The most obvious explanation, to Paula, is only
obvious to people who have zero conception of reality
outside of the pages of the bourgeois media in
imperialist countries.

Wake up, get real, stop reading the New York Times and
the Washington Post for at least 6 months, and stop
taking Ritalin and other mind altering drugs.
