[Marxism] [NYTr] MERCOSUR Would Rather Trade with Israel than the US; Trade Pact Imminent

I am the last of all people to defend Zionism, etc.

But I think that on this issue we must be careful.

A free trade agreement between Mercosur and Israel is not per se a
betrayal to the cause of the Palestinians. Not as serious a menace or
betrayal, perhaps, as a free trade agreement with USofA is. Yes, it
gives Israel slack and oxygen in their struggle against the
Palestinians. But Israel does NOT need that slack nor that oxygen. USA
will make sure it always has all the slack and oxygen the Israelis
need.

The agreement says NOTHING that Israel can use in the only way it can
find it useful: the MORAL, POLITICAL, ground.

So that let us be cautious.
