Most extensive discussion I know of immanent critique in Marx is in
Patrick Murray Marx's Theory of Scientific Knowledge. For example,
difference between left Hegelians and Marx understood in terms of
the latter's achievement of a truly immanent critique. For immanent
critique also see Peter Stillman
"Marx's Enterprise of Critique," in J. Roland Pennock, ed., Marxism
(NOMOS Series; New York: New York University Press, 1983), pp. 252-76.
Between them one will get a near comprehensive textual analysis.
If it's a mutual friend at UC Davis, say hello for me.
