reply beyond again urging you to actually follow the struggles of the 
movements against the neoliberal ANC regime, and listen to the views of

In a radio debate ( radio 786 in Cape Town) on Friday 8th JUne 2007, 
between the Anti-War Coalition, the Muslim Judicial Council and the ANC. 
it emerged that the ANC govt is still selling weapons to Israel  and 
receiving weapons from them;  they will continue selling weapons to them 
until (so they say) the current arms deal is completed. This arms deal 
(worth over R30 billion or over  $US 4 Billion) and allocated to various 
arms manufacturers has been highly controversial as it has been struck 
while the ANC had been in office for a few years and was not linked to 
any previous dealings of the partheid state. Many questions have been 
raised over the wisdom of buying weapons while the basic needs of the 
masses have not been met. The arms deal has also been associated with 
much corruption.
 
Several questions now arise, why was the Israeli arms manufacturers 
chosen, especially in the light of the ANC govt's verbal commitment to 
Palestinians? Who authorised the sale of weapons to and from Israel, 
especially as current President Mbeki was overall in control of the 
process of the arms deal? What criteria was used in selecting the 
Israeli arms company? (knowing full well that any weapons from Israel 
have been 'tried and tested' on Palestinians).
 
Furthermore, there was no response from the ANC to the query over the 
use of Minister Ronnie Kasrils (Minister of Intelligence) as a 
spokesperson for the so-called "end the occupation campaign" when he 
oversees the office of Mossad which operates from OR Tambo International 
Airport (Johannesburg) and that several South African activists have 
been strip-searched and humiliated by Mossad on South African soil, en 
route to Palestine.
 
The Anti-War Coalition questioned the wisdom of an alliance with the 
ANC, whose track record showed that they were more committed to trade 
and other links with Israel than with real solidarity with the 
Palestinians. The AWC raised concern that the ANC was using the 
opportunity to promote a bantustan for Palestinians (the so-called 2 
state solution).
