"and lots of the girls, including my sister, were whores ...."
Hold on! This is an interesting comment (!), but what's more
interesting is that it passes without comment. As in, "oh well, he's
being a sexist but let me not be "politically correct" by calling hi
out on it. After all, we're just a bunch of guys here and we all
understand what he means."
[We ARE mostly just a bunch of guys here, which also passes without
comment except when someone remembers Yoshie Furuhashi and her
contributions, at which point the list moderator insults her politics
and preemptively defends the churlish behavior that has eliminated her
from both this list and, apparently, Pen-L. She has been derogated
here and on lbo-talk as not worthy of editing mrzine, and
single-handedly pouring ignominy on the memory of the Iranian comrades
tortured by the Khomeini revolution, and causing the worst deviations
in socialist thinking known to man. She, however, has not engaged in
personal attacks on the men who have driven her from the Marxist
lists. She is just doing her work at mrzine.org. She is probably a
"whore" too.]
How many of you were filled with glee that Don Imus got his
comeuppance for calling the WRONG "girls" hos. But I see there is
little outrage at the common usage of this demeaning term among
"comrades."
It's the silence that bothers me, my brothers, the silence.
Now if this guy's sister was a "whore," because I presume she slept
around, then it would be appropriate for virtually every man in the
world to be called a whore.
For example, "Karl Marx, a whore, was the founder of something that
other class-conscious socialists, all of them whores, called
scientific socialism."
Or, "Frederich Engels, when not whoring around, wrote some very good books."
Or ... I hope you get the point.
Pointedly,
Steffie
