In the diplomatic world, among states and governments, just it's not
possible to "not recognize" the Calderon goverment. Who'se going to
stamp your visa when you come in? Where will you get stamps to post
letters and bills? The Mexican opposition never got far in setting up
a counter-administration. It was a good idea at first, of course, but
that was then and this is now. There is some coverage of Kirchner's
visit to to Mexico. See below.

Argentina's Kirchner Invites Mexico to Join Mercosur (Update1)
By Eliana Raszewski
July 30 (Bloomberg) -- Argentina's President Nestor Kirchner said
``it's essential'' that Mexico joins the Mercosur trade bloc.
``We should hold the discussions step by step in order to have a
balanced integration that will strengthen the Mercosur bloc and all
its countries,'' said Kirchner in a news conference with Mexican
President Felipe Calderon in Mexico.
Kirchner is on a three-day trip to Mexico with his wife and
presidential candidate Senator Cristina Fernandez to sign accords
with Calderon to deepen trade between the two countries.
Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay are members of the Mercosur
trade bloc, which is also seeking to incorporate Bolivia and
Venezuela.

Mexican Congress Welcomes Kirchner
Mexico, Jul 31 (Prensa Latina) The Upper Chamber of the Mexican
Congress is due to welcome Tuesday Argentinean President Nestor
Kirchner, who is fulfilling a three-day official visit to this
country invited by his counterpart Felipe Calderon.
Kirchner will attend a session of the Congress' Permanent Commission
and talk with economist Manlio Fabio Beltrones, president of the
Directive Board and coordinator of the Partido Revolucionario
Institucional's parliamentary group.
Later, his wife Cristina Fernandez, senator and presidential
candidate, is expected to welcome cultural figures and academics in
the Argentinean embassy's residence to this capital.
Also on the list is to meet in the ancient City Hall Palace with the
capital's government president Marcelo Ebrard, who will award him
with the Illustrious Visitor medal and receive the keys of the city.
On Monday, the Argentinean president and his Mexican counterpart held
private talks and inked a Strategic Association Agreement to foster

Kirchner champions improvement of Mexico-Venezuela relations
Argentinean President Néstor Kirchner recommended Monday in Mexico to
improve Mexico-Venezuela relations, at their lowest level since the
respective ambassadors were recalled in 2005.
Bilateral relations got strained under the government of Conservative
President Vicente Fox, the antecessor of Mexican President Felipe
Calderón, who exchanged tough criticism and rough terms with
Venezuelan President Hugo Chávez.
Kirchner said that Mercosur, a trade bloc composed of Argentina,
Brazil, Paraguay and Uruguay, with Venezuela applying for full
membership, would like Mexico to join it, Reuters reported.
"I have no doubt that the Venezuelan government also is fully in
agreement with Mexico's inclusion. Argentina advocates deepening and
natural improvement of Mexico-Venezuela relations," said Kirchner
during a joint press conference with the participation of Calderón.
