Empty words, as you well know.  Such legislation was a dead letter, and
every Democrat knew it.  A disgruntled Democratic members of Congress even
admitted the collaboration of the Democratic Congressional leadership with
Ronnie.

The Democrats knew that the Reagan was repeatedly ignoring the Boland
Amendments (that's why they were passed repeatedly), but the Democratic
leadership didn't give a shit.  They never seriously investigated these
violations of the law, much less filed articles of impeachment.  (Where were
the Democrats when Henry Gonzales proposed this?  They were finding the
nearest Republican "colleague" to assure them of their continued
subservience to the Reagan administration.)

The Democrats knew when they repeatedly voted "humanitarian aid" to the
Contras that it was the kind of "humanitarian aid" that slaughtered people
in rural Nicaragua.

They did in hopes of minimizing post office closings, etc. in their home
districts.

Shame on them!  Shame on those who sanction their Republican politics....
