Thanks to Les for clearly identified the source of this speculative crap as
Reagan's Assistant Secretary of the Treasury, the Associate Editor of the
Wall Street Journal editorials, and a Contributing Editor of National
Review.  Is such blue-skying guesswork worth an elaborate discussion among
"Marxists"?

My question is why "materialists" seem so irresistibly drawn to this kind of
crystal-balling about who's going to do what to who with what?

That seems like a more fruitful subject.
