[Marxism] Yes, Kissinger, but...

Yes, Louis, Kissinger supported the Suharto regime in the invasion to
East Timor. I know that. China also supported Pinochet, for that
matter.
What I have asked is an entirely different question.
I understand that you, a serious Marxists living in the USA, are
interested in fighting your own bourgeoisie, and thus whatever
Kissinger supports is _prima facie_ prone to our hatred. Not
mocking. I understand that.
But my question, I don't know if I could pose it in such a way as to
have it clear, is a different one.
I assume that whatever the global stakes in the game, politics (and
revolutionary politics in particular) is always _local_. That is, it
must always consult the local situation and the deep local trends,
and establish a program for the future _on the local ground_, not _on
any abstract, even geopolitical, measuring rod_.
Thus, again: my question was not on what Kissinger would do. He
would support Suharto, of course. He was in struggle with the Soviet
Union and the FreTiLiN seemed to be on the Soviet camp, while Suharto
was on the US camp. My question is a stronger one, and I'm afraid
not even you can answer it (not because you are not aware of the
issue, but simply because you _consistently fight your own
bourgeoisie, and this is OK with me_).
My question is: did the Leftist leadership of the Eastern Timorese
people take the good measures, or they _entered the Catch-22 of
Kissinger by setting themselves on the Soviet camp without a second's
consideration to what this would mean to the people they led_?
I don't know. I don't even know if there were any East Timorese
people who supported this point of view I am suggesting. I know
nothing about anything South Western Pacific. But for one thing:
Australia is an imperialist country, and Indonesia is a semicolonial
country.
I admit that mine is a very articulate construction based on almost
nothing. But what if.
