While we can't rule anything out, I guess, this frankly sounds like a silly
bit of hysterical vilification.

Anything so risky and dangerous by the neocons would immediately lose the US
by its few remaining allies...and likely lead to the rise of a serious (not
self-policed) opposition in the US.  In short, nuking Iran would hurt their
agenda a lot more than letting Iran join the nuclear club...or even have
nuclear weapons.
