Actually, to be more precise, you are talking about 2006, the 1860s,
and the 1980s.
* * *
I can't believe I have to explain this again, but one more time...
I don't care about 1860s per se in this discussion, DCQ. I only quoted Marx's statement to show that opposition to bourgeois politics is not an automatic position for communists. The man was shocked to see a Marxist saying what I said. So I showed Marx himself enthusiastically supporting the Republican Party.
See, Marxists analyze situations in concrete moments and make the best decision with the tools at their disposal. Not all Marxists act as ideologues and stand dumbfounded while the world goes to hell simply because the left is so disorganized. Being a Marxist, I analyzed the present situation and have decided to make the most effective move I can - vote to turn Republicans out of office.
As for 1980, I didn't bring it up. But I do admit that I exploited it to prove Mark wrong. There is a difference between Democrats and Republicans - sometimes that difference is greater than at other times - and workers, especially minorities, were a lot worse off under Reagan than under Carter.
And workers are a lot worst off under Republicans than Democrats in 2006. So it's off to the polls to support Democrats.
Marxism is not dogma, DCQ. It isn't a religion. Stop treating it like it is. Or at least learn to properly interpret scripture.
Andrew
