I now write:

Mark asked me what was gained by my narrow definition of racism? I 
suggest that it allows us to see the differing kinds of ideological 
justifications for human group inequality. Religious intolerance, the 
curse of Ham, racism, the unilinear model of cultural evolution are 
different in important ways.
