In fact, Nestor, the Brazilian Far Left has gained nothing for jumping into
Heloisa's bandwagon. I personally expected that Heloisa's ticket was able to
make the Left Front (that's to say the coalition between Heloisa's PSOL, the
Trotskyst PSTU and the small unreformed neostalinist splinter group from the
old Brazilian CP, the PCB) surpass the "barrier clause" and have the right
to a full representation in the Federal legislative; actually, what we had
instead are some PSOL congresspersons who will be reduced to the status of
"zombies" - that's to say they will be barred from holding positions in any
parliamentary comissions as well as from having their own leadership in the
lower house.
But then, for the purely moralizing stance she gave her campaign, Heloisa
has only muddled waters that have already been very muddled from the
start...
BTW, a telltale sign is that Heloisa declared herself, various times - as
far as more postmodern Left issues are concerned - that she was both
pro-life and pro-somekind of Brazilian DOMA, something that didn't help
clarify her ideological stance, to say the least...
