discussion of this interview:   This passage reinforces my frequent 
assertion that the processes and sequence of events that culminate in 
wars, are quite disparate.    There are preconditions such as a big 
overfed military, latent fears, racism, domination urges etc in the 
U.S. population.   Those play a role.   At other points in time, the 
Oil Lobby or the media, or the self-interested political parties also 
play *different* roles.   A permanent industrial complex, also plays 
additional roles.  Self-interestd Veterans boosting their images, 
also play a role.    All these roles are different in type, at 
different points or intervals of time, and for different motivations 
often oblique.    It is not as simple as money, or oil, etc.
