[A-List] The Haiti earthquake was a good excuse. But the US mission was not about them.

They're always rehearsing. The objective of training the troops
is a pattern that has been observed for many decades. So has
the goal of testing weapons. As soon as there's a new war,
you have every kind of weapon from "patriot missiles" to telecoms,
GPS stuff, white phosphorous, unmanned drones etc. being tested.
At some point you wonder if the wars are just testing exercises
for weapons. And training exercises for 18 year old kids who are
completely unaware of history of Korean war, Vietnam war, Iraq war,
or other major wars that killed millions of people who never attacked
america.
I once argued that the economic motivation for these wars was
the substantial driver, the main component causing these wars.
The bases economies, the military payroll, the contractors and
all their families and churches etc. were CAUSING these wars.

That's true enough...but for the last year, studying CG Jung,
Ernest Becker, and Freud. I have learned that the human species
has a natural tendency to narcissism, to projection of its mental
constructions on the world outside, assigning 'meaning' or
significance to faraway things, people, symbols that trigger inner
reactions.
So, we have a huge problem of understanding our own psychological
tendencies, the operation of our own minds. Our own innate propensity
to hatred and violence, our vulnerability to manipulation by propaganda,
Awww sh*t... same ol territory, why repeat it,
War is caused by rotten SOBs who promote and foment war for their
own goals, almost always economic, and War is easily and reliably
started by appealing to widespread attitudes and ignorance of the
population that is damn hard to eradicate or fix, so where do you start?
Trying to elevate the intellect or morality of the people?? Or just go after
the war makers?
