Other than the issue of style, Tony and other native
speakers of this language should keep in mind that
those of us who learned this language later in their
lives may sound awkward at times. Also, when you learn
a particular subject quite well and reach a certain
state where it becomes part of your life, you don't
really realize that certain things you take for
granted may not be so obvious to those who have not
spent as much time as you did in thinking about that
subject.

I draw the line between sincerity and acting.

To me, Henry is genuinely interested in sharing his
knowledge and expertise with us "mortals" and however
difficult I may find his writings to understand every
now and then, I always find something to learn from
them.

So, Henry, please continue to share your knowledge
with the list and I will try to make sure with my
questions that that happens.

I am not expert of anything except this:

Asking questions!..

And I'm not as versed in the arts of diplomacy as Sabri, who put this much
better than I could have hoped to do. Careless and apparently haughty
dismissal of another's contributions without substantiation is not a feature
of A-list discussion, and believe me it will continue to be absent for as
long as I have any influence around here. There is no toleration of the
inbred arrogance typical of so much of what passes for e-list discussion.
The A-list was set up precisely to get around that particular problem, as it
is especially manifest among metropolitan "Marxists" and progressives who
prefer to stroke their egos than do something even vaguely helpful to the
oppressed with whom they nominally side.

It is unfortunate that Tony's private communication was sent by accident
here. Nevertheless the onus is on us as moderators to reassure Henry and
anyone else who may feel affected by Tony's comments that their
participation remains valued and appreciated.

Michael
