Dear Keaney Michael,

This refers to your sending the article, "The reality and illusion of
Sino-Indian
cooperation", by Ehsan Ahrariin 'Asia Times' of March 22, 2002.

India and China had been imperial powers and both tend to exert beyond
their natural frontiers. China has engulped Inner Mongolia, Manchuria, Tibet
and Xinkiang as her integral parts. So has India annexed Hyderabad, Goa,
Sikkim, Manawadar and Kashmir. But there the similarity ends. While China
demographically is mainly a homogenous mass. Over 95 % of her population
is Han Chinese who speak with slight variation one langauge.

India on the other hand, despite having people as many as in China are by
religion, race and language of different colouration. India has about one
dozen
insurgenncies going on all the time. They all claim total independence from
India. The Hindu nature can only assimilate not live at peace with other
civilisations. 200 million Muslims who ruled the region for about eight
centuries
before the British float separately as oil over water. Hindus are keen to
avenge
the Muslim rule over them while Muslims wish to go to the glorious Mughal
period.

So are the over 300 million Dalits, the indigenous population of the
sub-continent
before the Aryans or Mongols entered on the stage. Dalits are the
untouchable
outcastes are a people who have suffered most and for logest period of time
than
any oppressed goup any where. These unfortunate ones have also started
rising.

In addition to these two major groups there numerous others in the North
East, Sikhs
in the West and many others. The hegemonistic Hindu mentality is not at all
prepared to ameliorate these agrieved communities. They have tried force to
subdue
them and it seems will continue to dod so for the foreseable future.

This phenomenon precludes any chances of India being able to use its vast
human
power as an asset but is a liability. The excessive militarisation is
sinking
scores of millions into abject poverty year by year.

China is aware of the continued increase in range of Indian missiles and
nuclear
weapons at in fact aimed at her. India if can be having some similarity of
views,
commonality of foes it is with Israel. Both see in the awakened militant
Islam a threat
and challenge to their expansionate goals.
