Rad-Green: Radical anti-capitalist environmental discussion Welcome to the homepage of Rad Green, sometimes referred to as "Radical Green". This list exists for several reasons, and it is constantly evolving. 1: Capitalism and imperialism are environmentally unsustainable, due in part, to their systemic need for growth; 2: War and late imperialism are the greatest environmental threats that human existence has ever known and must be stopped; 3: Environmentalism, when it speaks against war, has for far too long been wed to notions of reforming capitalism in a "green" way; 4: We do not have the time to spend endlessly fighting over how to stop the dieoff. We must start working with a plan, and we must do so quickly. The list has evolved into overwhelmingly news-based postings, as can be seen in the archives below. The selection of items among our many listmembers (from all over the world) continue to be among the very best. The list here does not have one anti-capitalist or environmental analytical framework, although we are intolerant of sexism, homophobia, racism (including Zionism and anti-Semitism) and other marginalising attitudes. If you cannot post to email list discussion without getting into an argument about the evils of another form of anti-capitalist thinking, you perhaps should find another list. This list will not tolerate pseudo- religious fights about Stalin versus Trotsky, the Spanish Civil War, Kronstadt, or how everyone else here is a traitor to the working class. This is not to mean that people cannot be stubborn about their opinions, but that this list has no icons that, upon quoting, are supposed to end the argument. Both decorum and openness are requirements. Respectful debate is a must. If you are forwarding an article that you believe will be of interest, please remove any >>'s and make sure your post is neither HTML nor MIME formatted, or else the "Mailman" software will automatically reject it. If you receive notice of a post being held because of a "suspicious header" that is either incorrect formatting or because you have added an attachment. Neither of them are allowed. Unencoded, plain text emails sent by subscribers will automatically be posted about five minutes after they are sent. Finally, if you are replying to a prior post, please include only the portion of that post that is what you are replying to. This helps save on bandwidth and kb's per message, essential for dial up modem users, particularly in the imperialised world.
